According to multiple media reports, while the auction house declined to name the seller, saying only that the item was the “Property of a Gentleman”, the description matches that of Kardashian’s engagement ring given to her by ex-husband Kris Humphries.
Designed by Lorraine Schwartz and mounted in platinum, the piece features “a rectangular-cut diamond, weighing approximately 16.21 carats, flanked on either side by a trapeze-cut diamond, each weighing approximately 1.80 carats.”
The ring first made headlines when Humphries – an American NBA – presented it to Kardashian during a scene in her reality TV show Keeping up with the Kardashians.
The couple married in 2011 but the union lasted just 72 days.
Reports suggest the ring cost Humphries US$2 million (A$2.1m), although its current estimated sale price is between US$300,000 (about A$320,000m) and US$500,000 (about A$533,000m). A portion of the proceeds is said to benefit charity.
The item is part of Christie’s Magnificent Jewels auction, scheduled to take place on Tuesday 15 October.
