What is your brand’s philosophy?
Pastiche aims to give our retailers – and in turn, our end consumer – the industry’s most inspiring and comprehensive jewellery. We believe the quality of our product and innovative designs are key factors in presenting a successful brand.

As a supplier, maintaining the strength of our customer service and continuous development of product is very important.

Why did you decide to develop a brand rather than sell unbranded jewellery?
There has been a growing consumer demand for brands. We were proud to make the transition to branded jewellery – to display the Pastiche name and to differentiate our brand from others. The Pastiche name was already well known and respected amongst retailers and we have enjoyed the experience of developing brand awareness at a consumer level.

What are the benefits to retailers stocking your brand?
Retailers benefit from the brand recognition and customer demand that exists for Pastiche jewellery. By carrying a renowned brand, retailers are able to create a point of difference in their product offering. Our retailers also gain from the marketing support we provide for them. From custom-designed ads and posters to in-store display units and promotional online material, retailers are well equiped to confidently market our brand.

What challenges did you face when introducing a new brand to Australia?
The greatest challenge is in achieving brand recognition and upholding our personal and company standards. Substantial effort goes into creating a strong marketing strategy and then delivering on the expectations created by such a campaign, such as the quality of product and level of service promised.

Do you think there are characteristics that make a brand distinctly Australian?
It’s more desirable to create a brand that has international appeal. Our brand is built on the concept of beautiful and timeless jewellery, which are universal ideas rather than distinctly Australian.

What is it about those characteristics that gives your brand appeal in the market?
While keeping in mind that we want the Pastiche brand to maintain its appeal to an international audience, our primary markets are of course Australia and New Zealand. This does lead to an inevitable tendency for tailoring our designs to the tastes of consumers in these local markets. We strive to inspire and meet our consumer’s needs in presenting a brand that people can trust and look to for striking, unique and innovative styles.

What distinguishes your brand from competitors?
Our strengths reflect our philosophy. Great customer service, excellent quality, diversity and creativity in what we offer as well as achieving desirable price points. These aspects help to cement our place in this competitive industry.

What have been some major achievements for the brand?
Instant recognition, customer loyalty and trust in our brand – these are the achievements we are most proud of. In recent years, Pastiche has also been voted by the trade as a Top 5 supplier within our key categories: sterling silver, stainless steel, charms/beads and men’s jewellery. The votes came from retailers across Australia so it was a great testimony to the changes and developments we’ve implemented over the last few years.

What’s been your most innovative marketing campaign?
We’ve launched two innovative window display competitions for our Australasian market over the last couple of years. We were thrilled by the overwhelming response and so impressed to see these dynamic in-store displays. The competitions were a source of creativity for our stockists and a source of excitement for their customers.

We’ve also been building our social media platform with a very positive response. Our recent Facebook competition was a runaway success, which was followed by an influx of enquiries about the brand and how to locate stockists.

What’s next? How will the brand evolve?
We are really excited about releasing our new range that has been entirely designed in-house. We aim to deliver unique and innovative Pastiche product that our retailers and end consumers will love.

What’s your favourite product from the latest collection?
It’s difficult to choose just one! My favourite piece is always changing with new designs being introduced. At the moment my favourite piece is the Capri bangle in two-toned stainless steel.
