Move your business forward by looking backward

With the festive season around the corner, it’s easy for jewellers to get caught up preparing for the busy Christmas and New Year trading period. However, the end of the year is also an important time to reflect on what went well over the past year.

Can a business truly move forward without looking backward? It’s an interesting question, and given 2015 was so eventful, Jeweller has included the ultimate review of the jewellery industry over the past 12 months in its December issue – from jaw-dropping news stories to the most popular products and best business advice published across the year.

Having looked backward, we then thought we should look forward by seeking the views of a bevy of people working in the sector. They have agreed to spill the beans on their plans for the upcoming year.

In addition to this special feature, the December issue includes an article explaining what to do if you’ve hired the wrong employee and a report on why it’s important to measure the performance of your best salespeople.

As you start to think about your New Year’s resolutions, you might also want to consider improving your staff training to boost profits. In this issue, we have a story that shows why staff development requires more than a one-off session, as well as another that explores how to identify the seven different types of retail buyers to increase your chances of closing the sale.

The last 2015 issue of Australia and New Zealand’s #1 jewellery industry magazine not only aims to entertain and educate, but also inspire retailers to achieve success in 2016 and beyond.
