Piccolo to launch first silver jewellery range

Gold jewellery children’s brand Piccolo is set to launch its first sterling silver range at the inaugural Autumn Jewellery Fair in Melbourne.

The brand was created, and is distributed, by fine Italian jewellery supplier Oro Bello. Piccolo was conceived as a gold-only collection, but Oro Bello owner Felicity Van Wyk said recently she has noticed a gap in the market for sterling silver children’s jewellery.

“After looking into what is currently available in sterling silver children’s jewellery, it is our belief that there is a definite market for our product in this category,” Van Wyk said.

“By producing Piccolo in sterling silver, it will make it available at a lower retail price point and therefore make it accessible to a larger market,” she added.

However, Van Wyk said Piccolo’s existing collection had held up well in the face of soaring gold prices. “Piccolo is performing extremely well, especially considering the constant talk of the rising gold prices,” she said. “It is the success of the Piccolo collection in 9ct gold that has made us look at other areas we can succeed with this product,” she added.

The sterling silver range will feature the most popular Piccolo items as well as pieces that will be exclusively produced in silver. Oro Bello plans to launch it at the upcoming Melbourne fair.
