Guess Watches renews support for cancer research

Guess Watches has announced a second special edition Sparkling Pink watch range as part of its continuing support of the National Breast Cancer Foundation.

Designa Accessories, the Australian distributor of Guess Watches sold 175 units of the first Sparkling Pink model last year, raising $6,125 for the National Breast Cancer Foundation in the process, a donation Designa Accessories public relations officer Natalee Hubbard hopes to surpass with the 2012 model.

She said the way in which Guess customers had embraced last year’s initiative had had been both exciting and touching and she hoped to see that continue to grow this year.

“The 2011 Sparkling Pink by Guess Watches was featured editorially by both weekly and monthly fashion magazines,” Hubbard said. “We had phone calls from customers looking to purchase the watch, one was from a daughter who wanted to buy the watch for her mother as a sentimental gesture for reaching her five year milestone of being clear from the disease,” Hubbard said.

She added, “One in nine women will develop breast cancer in their lifetime so it's great to be able to contribute to research into beating the disease and helping the National Breast Cancer Foundation achieve their goal of zero deaths from breast cancer in 2030.”

This year’s Sparkling Pink watch features a polished silver-tone case and bracelet united by a sparkling single row of crystals around the bezel and includes a multi-function dial noting day and date with sun-silver ribbon details and a single, eye-catching bedazzled pink ribbon.

Hubbard says that Designa Accessories’ aim is to increase its efforts with the initiative this year by becoming more involved in the Foundation’s partner network, utilising relationships with other partners to assist with supplying prizes for fundraising and sharing ideas for successful campaigns.

She said this year there would also be a much greater distribution of the Guess product in store.

“The watch is available now and will be supported with point of sale in store. It is recommended to retail for $349.00, with 10 per cent of the retail price donated to the National Breast Cancer Foundation,” Hubbard said.

In addition to supporting the Foundation with the Sparkling Pink watch, Designa Accessories will conducting its own fundraising activities, including a breakfast at its head office where retailers can get involved in the campaign with raffles and other prizes including Estee Lauder beauty products, gift sets from Maxwell and Williams Cashmere Pink Ribbon Chantilly Lace collection and vouchers to Bras ‘n Things.
