TWM Co is the latest wedding ring supplier to add its own range of engagement rings
TWM Co is the latest wedding ring supplier to add its own range of engagement rings

Engagement ring market heats up

Having provided weddings rings to the Australian jewellery industry for almost 50 years, a local supplier has expanded its bridal range to include diamond engagement rings.

The new diamond engagement ring collection from Melbourne-based TWM Co includes cluster, three-stone and solitaire designs as either semi-mounts or finished pieces. They are available in 9-carat and 18-carat gold, and in platinum.

A custom-made engagement ring service is also available.

Roberto Ulas, TWM Co chief operating officer, told Jeweller that while retailers had previously shown interest in an engagement ring line, the business had been reluctant to enter the market without being able to offer a point of difference.

“We thought about this [offering engagement rings] for some time, and we only wanted to enter this market if we could add value, or simply offer a superior product with fast delivery times at an exceptional price,” he explained.

Now, Ulas believes that he can offer efficient service and a 10-day delivery time for both TWM Co’s ready-made and custom-made rings.

“By using state-of-the-art equipment and techniques, and a high palladium alloy content, we are able to produce the rings faster with a better finish than when traditionally produced by hand,” Ulas explained. “This in turn, allows us to improve delivery time and quality, and adds value that we can then pass on to the client through our pricing.”

Ulas said that initial interest in the new range had been “very positive”.

The whole (bridal) kit and caboodle

The bridal market continues to play a vital role for most independent jewellery stores, and while it’s a very competitive market, traditional bridal suppliers are developing new and innovative ways to assist retailers with pre-made and customised packages, in-store point of sale display kit options, as well as encouraging the promotion of a store’s own trademark.
