Design Awards extravaganza

Bookings are now open for tables at this year’s JAA Australian Jewellery Awards, as the industry gears up for the busiest time of the year.

The winners of this year’s awards will be announced at a gala ball held during the Sydney trade fair, on Monday, August 30.

Attendees will be treated to pre-dinner drinks, a three-course meal and dancing at a glamorous black-tie extravaganza in Doltone House at Darling Island Wharf.

TV presenter Natalie Barr from the morning show Sunrise will host the awards.

New for this year is the Marie Claire People’s Choice Award, which will be presented on the night by Marie Claire editor Jackie Frank. Readers of the iconic fashion and lifestyle magazine will be introduced to the awards via a double page spread in the September issue, hitting news-stands on August 4.

Marie Claire will encourage readers to participate by voting for their favourite jewellery design. Voters will have 10 pieces to choose from, all selected by Frank, and participation is via the Yahoo! 7 LifeStyle website from July 28 to August 4.

During the evening, Marie Claire-styled models will show-off the finalists’ pieces.
