Axe-wielding motorcyclists in $3m jewellery raid

Police in the UK are hunting six helmet-clad thieves – three motorcyclists and three pillion passengers – who looted a luxury jewellery store inside a shopping centre.

Shortly after 10.15am Tuesday (London time) axe-wielding raiders on motorbikes smashed their way into the Fraser Hart jewellery store in Brent Cross Shopping Centre, north London. There they quickly stole Cartier and Rolex watches, as well as other luxury jewellery items, before speeding off, nearly skittling stunned onlookers.

Local estimates put the theft at around $3 million.

The whole incident took place in less than two minutes. No one was injured.

CCTV of the brazen theft featuring the six robbers speeding through a shopping centre on motorbikes, has been released by police.
