The 2010 edition of the Hong Kong International Jewellery Show, Asia's largest spring show, will be the first to utilise the recently-completed Atrium Link Expansion of the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre (HKCEC), where the show is housed.
Scheduled for March 5-9 2010, the fair is expected to attract over 2,700 exhibitors from 48 countries and regions, an increase from previous shows, facilitated by the greater exhibition centre capacity, according to organiser Hong Kong Trade Development Council.
Responding to the trend of jewellery becoming more closely-aligned with fashion trends and targeting the younger, middle-income market segment with branded jewellery, the organiser will once again present the Hall of Fame pavilion.
This up-market section will showcase international jewellery brands reputed for superior design and workmanship, according to the HKTDC.
New to the show this year is the World of Glamour zone – a pavilion located in the prominent Hall 1 and dedicated to fine jewellery from Hong Kong-based exhibitors.
Fostering new design talent among up-and-coming designers, the HKTDC will again collaborate with the Hong Kong Jewellers’ & Goldsmiths’ Association, the Hong Kong Jewellery & Jade Manufacturers Association, the Hong Kong Jewelry Manufacturers’ Association and the Diamond Federation of Hong Kong, China to present the 11th Hong Kong Jewellery Design Competition as a concurrent event of the Show.
Hong Kong is the world's fourth largest exporter of fine jewellery after Italy, the US and India. The country’s total export of fine jewellery was US$2.4 billion in the first nine months of 2008.
