New supply agreement for Aussie diamond miner

Australia’s Burgundy Diamond Mines (BDM) has put pen-to-paper on an agreement to supply polished fancy colour diamonds to jeweller Solid Gold Diamonds.

In an announcement on Wednesday, BDM managing director Peter Ravenscroft said the fancy colour diamonds would be a part of the Maison Mazerea brand and used for engagement and bridal jewellery.

“These exciting sales and profit-sharing agreements are a result of our successful launch of Maison Mazerea in line with our vertically integrated business model and strategy to be a world-leading, end-to-end diamond company,” he said.

The second line of fine jewellery featuring high-value diamonds is expected to debut in October. Solid Gold Diamonds have a flagship store in Perth, as well as a second location in Adelaide.

BDM has also entered a new partnership with the Princess Grace Foundation, a charity that supports artists associated with dance, theatre and film. A luxury brand, named Grace de Monaco, will be launched in New York in November.

The brand will consist of fine jewellery available via private sale.

In December, the miner announced its first supply agreement with luxury French jeweller Bäumer Vendôme. BDM plans to produce 1,200 carats of polished fancy colour diamonds each year.

Based in WA, BDM opened a factory in July of last year in Australia with the aim of cutting and polishing fancy colour diamonds extracted from its own projects. BDM acquired the historic Ellendale Mine in 2021.
