The new men's Seiko Solar
The new men's Seiko Solar

Seiko

By virtue of its solar-recharging battery, the new Seiko Solar range claims to contribute to a healthier eco-system.
Seiko Solar is a quartz watch that derives its energy from light, which it stores in its self-recharging battery.

While watch dials in previous solar-operated timepieces were required to be transparent, technological developments has enabled Seiko to create a range featuring coloured dials.

The watch charges very quickly. In most Seiko Solar models, a minute of sunlight for men’s models and two minutes for women’s models is enough to ensure an hour’s worth of energy.

The watch is fully charged after three hours in sunlight. When worn regularly, the watch will remain fully charged but will continue to function even if left in darkness for six months.

When the watch runs out of power, it takes just eight minutes of exposure to sunlight to restart it.

Some of the watches in the Seiko Solar range come with water resistance up to 100 metres.

Seiko Australia distributes its eponymous brand, as well as Lorus, Pulsar and Nike watches.
