The JAA announced on 1 May that Natalie Ablahd of Millennium Chain Manufacturing has joined the board. In a glowing endorsement, Ablahd's appointment was noted as bringing a ‘deep reservoir’ of technical and operational expertise to the organisation.
“Natalie Ablahd is a seasoned industry professional with over 20 years of experience at Millennium Chain Manufacturing,” the statement explained.
“During her extensive tenure, she has served in pivotal management roles, where she was responsible for leading and mentoring teams and developing robust operational policies.
"In addition to her leadership credentials, Ms Ablahd possesses extensive knowledge of jewellery design, construction, and manufacturing techniques, complemented by her skills in jewellery sales.”
As part of the announcement, JAA president Joshua Sharp said the board looks forward to working closely with Ablahd on matters such as governance, member support, and advocacy for the broader industry.
As well as Sharp and Ablahd the current board includes vice president Ronnie Bauer, treasurer Daniel Anania, and co-opted directors Lindsay Kotzman, appointed in December and Anna Hakman who joined the board on 1 April.
• In other news, JAA members were recently informed that Laura Moore, the magazine publisher and former JAA vice president, had terminated an agreement to provide members with a free copy of Jewellery World.
An email to members stated: “Over the past several years, JAA members have enjoyed a complimentary subscription to Jewellery World as part of their membership. However, we have been advised that the complimentary subscription will no longer be available as part of your JAA membership going forward".
Instead, members were advised that they will have to pay for annual subscription.
There was no reason given by the JAA or Moore for the agreement's termination or an explanation for the increased cost to members.
