Adelaide jeweller Bell & Brunt recognised at national awards

An Adelaide jewellery retailer was recognised with a top industry prize at this year’s Australian Small Business Champion Awards.

This year marks the 28th consecutive year of the Australian Small Business Champion Awards, celebrating the accomplishments of small businesses across more than 100 categories, including retail, hospitality, services and manufacturing.

Bell & Brunt was awarded the Australian Small Business Champion: Jeweller Award. Director and CEO Cheri Brunt told local media that family values are reflected in the company's day-to-day interactions.

"Being that family business, people come in and trust us with their stories and their most meaningful moments," she said

"They sort of come in and become part of our family, which is beautiful as well."

The business previously received the Greater Adelaide Local Business Award: Outstanding Jeweller in October 2025. Reflecting on the history of the business, Brunt said its humble origins remain ingrained in its practices.

“The families were not, you know, wealthy families, but doing what we could do to survive initially. My dad, Keith, had originally wanted to make rings. He was born in 1932, and I think their family certainly experienced war,” she added.

“I know that had a massive impact on his life, the business, and what they wanted to build.”

Founded in 1919 by Edgar Bell in Croydon, the fifth-generation jeweller relocated to James Place in 1942. William Brunt and Edgar Bell Jr joined prior to the move, and the Brunt family has managed the company since.
