The Kimberley Sunset ring is crafted in 18-carat gold and features three pink diamonds from the iconic Argyle Mine, coming from Rio Tinto’s Beyond Rare Tender: The Art Series.
In a statement, the Perth Mint said the design drew inspiration from the Kimberley region’s unique landscape, particularly the changing colours observed around sunset.
This piece was created in collaboration with John Glajz, who recently spoke with Jeweller about the importance of such projects in not only prolonging but also elevating the legacy of pink diamonds. After the release of Kimberley Sunset, general manager retail and customer experience Tina Kircher said these projects aimed to reach new benchmarks.
“John shares with us his wealth of insights about the elusive world of luxury jewellery and bejewelled collectables,” Kircher said.
“His guidance has been essential in ensuring our designs showcase exquisite pinks and their provenance in a way that exceeds the high expectations of sophisticated collectors and investors the world over.”
Totalling 0.85 carats, it was noted that diamonds of this calibre have become increasingly scarce following the closure of the Argyle Mine in 2020. A rare 0.55 carat round brilliant cut pink diamond is framed by two additional 0.15 carat pear pinks. A further 226 pink diamonds, including fancy intense purplish-pink and fancy intense pink stones, create a graduated display of colour.
The Kimberley Sunset ring is available for purchase and is priced at $AUD899,000.
Earlier this year, the Perth Mint announced the private sale of the Argyle Treasures ring, another piece created in collaboration with Glajz.
