Imagery of frozen lichen in Finnish forests stands out in relief on this pendant and earrings by Lapponia.
Part of the Finnish company’s 2011 collection, the ‘Informetta’ sterling silver pendant dangles off a black silicone band.
The name of the piece translates to mean ‘a little piece of information’. The matching pair of silver earrings is entitled ‘Fonte’, which translates to mean ‘well’.
Well-known Finnish jewellery artist and sculptor Bjorn Weckstrom designed the two pieces, which belong to Lapponia’s Lapland Silver collection – a striking range of 22 contemporary pieces crafted by Lapponia’s hand-picked European artists.
The pieces draw upon Nordic nature and evoke the untamed beauty of Scandinavia’s short winter days and glimmering ice, which are a source of inspiration for many of Lapponia’s designs.
The late master silversmith Pekka Annttila established Lapponia in Finland in 1960. Lapponia employs an international team of jewellery designers to create unique art-jewellery.
