Designa Accessories joins charity drive

Watch supplier Designa Accessories is set to participate in Sydney Children’s Hospital’s ‘Gold Week’ fundraising drive by holding a charity lunch and raffle on May 27.
Designa has contributed more than $5,000 worth of prizes for the raffle. The prizes comprise watches from every brand that Designa distributes – such as GC, Guess, Timex and Maxum –  as well as sunglasses, alcohol and handbags

Proceeds from the charity lunch and raffle will go towards medical equipment, upgrading wards, funding the Fellowship programme and funding research projects at the children’s hospital in Randwick, Sydney.

The $20 charity lunch is a staff event, but Designa is urging its staff to sell raffle tickets to their friends and family too.

“In an effort to raise as much money as possible, we have opened up the raffle to friends and family,” organiser and Designa human resources manager Marcelle McGrath said.

“Staff have all become very competitive in selling the most tickets and are keeping a tally to see who achieves the best result,” McGrath added.

Designa Accessories general manager Justin Veil said he hopes to raise between $2,000 and $3,000 from the event.

“With 35 people attending, we have $700 to start. We have raffle tickets being sold out this week, we have auctions on the day and some fun games to play,” Veil said.

Veil said the fact that him and most of his staff have kids cemented the affiliation.

“I myself have three [children] and I thank my lucky stars they are healthy, happy kids. I can’t imagine how hard it would be for these sick little kids and their families – so hopefully the cash we raise can help them a little.” he said.
