Scotty Nicols and Dane Rumble at the opening of Culet Jewellery
Popstar Dane Rumble opens jewellery store

New Zealand chart topping singer Dane Rumble is entering the jewellery
business, opening a new store in Takapuna, which he says will be the
first of many.
Rumble has teamed up with his former touring drummer Scotty Nicols, who is also a trained jeweller, to create Culet, a new diamond and silver jewellery store.
Rumble said his inspiration for the business came from a personal interest in the process of jewellery creation, which developed after he met Nicols several years ago.
''I designed a piece for my girlfriend and I got Scotty to make it,” he told Stuff.co.nz. “I was fascinated by the whole thing, the process of sketching something to creation.”
Rumble said selling jewellery would be gratifying because it is a part of many special moments in others’ lives.
''You get these guys come in and they've got these crazy stories about how they're going to propose and how they've been keeping it secret,” he said. “It's rewarding to be part of such a special personal occasion.''
The pair hoped the Takapuna store would be the first of many new Culet outlets in New Zealand, with expansion into Australia planned in the future as well.
Rumble has set lofty goals about the status he wanted his brand to attain.
''We are trying to keep everything very French and high end,'' he said. “I look at Tiffany & Co as a model of where we would like to take it.”
