Pandora pays Trollbeads $32 million in IP deal

Pandora will pay Trollbeads DKK190 million ($AU 31.8 million) for all intellectual property (IP) rights to Pandora's glass bead designs created by Trollbead's Lise Aagaard.

The one-off payment will be made shortly and stems from a long-term royalty agreement between the Danish charm bead brands.

Originally, Trollbeads had granted Pandora the IP rights to some glass charm bead designs by Trollbeads’ founder Lise Aagaard for a monthly fee. Pandora will now buy outright the IP associated with the designs.

There is no agreement regarding future designs and no effect on Trollbeads’ business going forward.

Trollbeads CEO Jan Stig Andersen confirmed to Jeweller that the deal would have no impact on the Australian market. Trollbeads is distributed locally through RJ Scanlan.
