The business’ founder, Peter Beck, said that while the decision to close both sites was difficult, it was necessary due to “the changing climate within the industry”.
“Deciding to close the offices was of course a difficult decision and one that was not made lightly or hastily. During these times we need to be very cautious of where our resources are going to maximise benefits to all our retailers,” Beck told Jeweller.
The Brisbane and Perth-based offices, which have been in operation for eight and three years respectively, were established in order to assist retailers situated in Queensland and Western Australia.
Peter W Beck client service manager Rebecca Hammond and precious metals consultant Bridget Buchanan will remain “on the road” for the business in Queensland and precious metals consultant Jody Oram will remain “on the road” in WA.
Beck did explain however, that the supplier was working on a number of IT projects that will allow for increased customer service efficiency to both national and international retailers. The majority of developments are expected to be rolled out over the first quarter of 2014.
Both offices will be open until Friday 20 December 2013.
Peter W Beck is based in Adelaide and was founded more than 35 years ago. It specialises in precious metal services as well as wedding ring manufacturing.
