Victoria’s Secret reveals $2 million gemstone-encrusted Fantasy Bras, ‘Backlace’: the newest jewellery trend, Meet the man who mines NYC streets for diamonds

Each year, Victoria’s Secret makes headlines with its annual fashion show runway that features the infamous gemstone-encrusted Fantasy Bra. In 2014, however, there is not one but two bras valued at US$2 million each. Designed by fourth generation jeweller Pascal Mouawad, the head-turning lingerie is embellished with diamonds, rubies and sapphires, and will be modeled during the brand’s December fashion show by Alessandra Ambrosio and Adriana Lima.

While these Angels flaunt their stuff, A-list celebrities including Anne Hathaway, Cate Blanchett and Jennifer Lawrence are stealing the spotlight with a new jewellery trend known as the “backlace”.

In other news, a man has taken to the streets of New York City to find gemstones. Raffi Stepanian – who calls himself a “city miner” – claims he nets up to US$900 per week by selling diamonds and gold back to the jewellers located in the city.
