The limited edition Casio Edifice x Red Bull Racing Australia (RBRA) watch is the result a partnership formed between Casio Timepiece, the local arm of Casio, and the RBRA team earlier this year.
“Pursuing outstanding accuracy has always been the priority of Casio Edifice engineers, so collaborating with the RBRA team was a natural fit, with both having such a strong emphasis on precision to the second,” Casio Timepiece national marketing manager Sandra Cal commented.
The analogue watch is available in two models – with either a stainless steel or black leather band – and comes with collector’s edition packaging. Only 1,000 watches will be released and each unit includes an individually numbered card for identification.
Cal said the partnership would strengthen the position of the Edifice watch in Australia, adding that the limited edition timepiece would be worn by six-time V8 Supercars champion Jamie Whincup and five-time Bathurst winner Craig Lowndes in the lead-up to the high-profile Bathurst 1000 racing event.
The company’s branding will also appear on the RBRA’s race cars and official gloves, as well as on merchandise such as shirts, jackets and caps.
Although the watch will be exclusively distributed by jewellery chains Angus & Coote and Wallace Bishop, as well as the RBRA online store and department store Myer, Cal said all Casio retail stockists would benefit by association.
“[Other] Casio stockists stand to benefit from the strong connection this collaboration will create between the passionate V8 Supercars community and Edifice, as well as highlighting the functionality and precision of the Edifice range in general,” she explained.
Cal added that the locally organised partnership with RBRA was an extension of Casio’s sponsorship of the international Infiniti Red Bull Racing team, which was established in 2009.
The watch will be available in stores this week in preparation for the upcoming Bathurst 1000 event, which will take place from 8 to 11 October at Mount Panorama, New South Wales.
