Outlook buoyant for Brisbane fair

Bookings for the JAA Australian Jewellery Fair, Brisbane, have exceeded organiser expectations, with an unprecedented number of exhibitors already securing their place at the March 2010 show.

In an outcome that appears to indicate positive growth signs for the industry for next year, Expertise Events has also attributed the high take-up rate to the success of the JAA International Jewellery Fair (IJF) last August.

“The success of the JAA IJF looks set to be replicated in Brisbane for the Australian Jewellery Fair in 2010,” said Expertise Events managing director Gary Fitz-Roy. “With the IJF being so successful, the Brisbane show will give retailers another opportunity to see recently-launched ranges.”

The Brisbane show will next year run across Saturday and Sunday, a move the organiser hope will facilitate for more buyers over the two days.

“The weekend offers retailers fantastic accommodation and travel options,” Fitz-Roy said. “The fair allows better connection with buying groups whose members can more easily attend. From an exhibitor perspective, we believe it will provide a more even distribution of buyers.”

As buyers have come to expect from JAA shows, a host of new features will highlight the fair. Aiming to deliver a show focused on the long-term growth and development of the industry, Expertise Events has developed a special feature called Career Links – designed to deliver career resources.

of new talent – the major works of final year Jewellery Design students from the Queensland School of Art, Griffith University and South Bank Institute of TAFE – will be on show for buyers.

“This provides students with the invaluable opportunity to showcase their talent to retailers in the industry,” Fitz-Roy said. “They are also able to talk to buyers about their pieces and design inspiration during the fair.”

The JAA Australian Jewellery Fair will also continue its focus on future trends, delivering a wide cross-section of product from local and international exhibitors: “The fair aims to provide buyers to opportunity to top-up their stocks post Christmas,” Fitz-Roy said. “A variety of jewellery will be available including fine, high fashion and watches ranging from value-priced to the highest-quality brands.”

Many exhibitors will also be offering ideas on point-of-sale and visual merchandising solutions for interested buyers.
