Kiwi ‘jeweller to the stars’ takes off in NZ

A London-based Kiwi jeweller popular with A-list celebrities has launched her jewellery line in the country where she grew up.

Jessica McCormack has designed bespoke diamond jewellery for celebrities such as Cheryl Cole, Madonna and Rihanna but her work has never before been available in New Zealand.

McCormack’s jewellery is being sold exclusively through Simon James Design at The Department Store in Takapuna, Auckland. Retail prices start at NZ$700 ($569). Since launching in New Zealand, a pair of her diamond earrings called Wing of Desire – replicas of ones recently worn by Rihanna - have been sold for NZ$13,000 ($10, 573).

McCormack’s jewellery is handmade in London, from where she supplies jewellery to stockists in the UK and Europe, including London, South Yorkshire and Florence in Italy. Her work ranges from classic pieces to haute couture.

McCormack started her UK jewellery career at Sotheby’s auction house when she moved to London in her 20s. She grew up in Christchurch.

She launched a new fine jewellery collection, XIV – The Seven Deadly Sins and Seven Contrary Virtues, last week and will show this to private clients in the UK before bringing it to New Zealand.
