The traditional dugout canoe employed by Indonesian fishermen acted as inspiration for these Kayakara earrings from Blue Turtles.
The Kayakara earrings feature 7mm-wide cultured freshwater pearls suspended in boat-shaped matt sterling silver shells. The earrings are 60mm long.
Blue Turtles’ Black Forest earrings are similar in design to the Kayakara earrings. An anodised layer of sterling silver renders the outer rims of the earrings black against the highly polished sterling silver centre. The two layers of beautifully hammered silver sit against each other to produce a striking contrast.
Both pairs belong to Blue Turtles’ White Light collection, a selection of fashion-oriented sterling silver pieces.
Blue Turtles is a Melbourne-based sterling silver manufacturer that promotes ethical jewellery production and helps support artisans around the world in countries including Indonesia and Mexico.
