Michael Hill, which has stores in Australia, New Zealand, Canada and the US, reportedly identified e-commerce and global expansion as a key focus for the next three years.
The retailer partnered with digital consultancy Amblique in order to develop the cloud-based e-commerce platform.
The new online platform is said to allow the retailer to quickly add new products and ranges to its website as well as requiring minimal technical intervention when dealing with multiple regions and user devices.
“Investment in digital activities is critical to our strategy of building a solid combination of brick-and-mortar store networks, backed up by a very strong online offer,” Michael Hill CEO Mike Parsell said.
Sir Michael Hill founded the company in New Zealand in 1979. It currently operates 252 stores, 53 of them in New Zealand, 153 in Australia, 37 in Canada and nine in the US.
