Lee Pownall of the Southbank Institute of Tafe, who flew down from Queensland for the judging day, said: “When people enter this competition it allows them to explore different techniques. “That gives them an opportunity to really advance their skills, let their hair down and design something that makes a statement. We saw some outstanding, interesting designs. It’s exciting.”
