Timeout on the Gold Coast: Registrations flood in for Nationwide

Australasia’s largest jewellery industry buying group, Nationwide Jewellers, expects big things from this year’s Timeout Conference, with more than 200 registrations secured two weeks in advance.

This year’s conference will be held in Broadbeach on the Gold Coast across 22-23 March. It will be held in conjunction with the Australian Jewellery Fair (24-25 March).

In recent years, Nationwide has held conferences in Fiji and Brisbane. General manager Glen Pocklington said that these conferences offer something for everyone – whether it be networking, education, or new business opportunities.

“We are thrilled with our conference registrations so far, as we will now have more than 200 people at the fair,” he told Jeweller.

“As usual, we will be making available to our members attending the fair over $3.5 million in Conference Cash (six-month interest finance) to spend with our preferred suppliers.”

Author and television host Amanda Stevens will be the guest speaker at the upcoming conference. Stevens will address the changing nature of retail, helping business owners make sense of new trends and expectations.

“Our keynote speaker, Amanda Stevens, will discuss the new retail rules in 2024 and post-pandemic opportunities for retail jewellery,” Pocklington added.

“We will also be running a session on the latest industry trends and a panel with several members sharing their strengths in attracting, retaining, and maximising customer interactions.”

It’s been a busy year for Nationwide – with the group recently detailing plans for trips to the US and Europe.

Jeweller’s 2024 State of the Industry Report recorded Nationwide Jewellers as the largest buying group in Australia, with 299 members accounting for 337 stores. The group also represents retailers in New Zealand and Fiji.
