The Australian Opal Awards are organised by the International Opal Jewellery Design Awards Association, a not-for-profit organisation founded in 2000 to promote the national gemstone.
Three weeks remain until the deadline for entry of this year’s competition, with applications closing on Friday, 4 July.
Entrants will be showcased from 23-26 July, with an awards night scheduled for 25 July in Lightning Ridge, New South Wales.
There are seven categories: open prestige jewellery, freeform prestige jewellery, designer meanswear jewellery, freeform carving, figurative carving, jewellery hand sketch, and digital jewellery entry. More than $30,000 in prizes are up for grabs.
Artisans Bespoke Jewellers in Brisbane won the open prestige jewellery division at last year’s awards ceremony for the Khroma piece.
