Ball's new Fireman Storm Chaser DLC Glow
Ball
Posted March 17, 2011 |
Ball’s new Fireman Storm Chaser DLC Glow pays tribute to inventor Dr Josh Wurman, renowned for his tornado and hurricane research.
The watch has two unusual measurement scales: a tachymeter, which allows wearers to measure speed over a given distance, and a telemeter to calculate the distance between the observer and a situation that is observable both visually and audibly, like lightning and thunder.
The watch also has self-powered gas micro-lights that make it easier to read the watch at night.
In the dark, a total of 66 micro gas tubes illuminate the dial for an impressive luminous effect. A blue glow emits from each hour index, chronograph functions are bathed in green light and the hour, minute and second hands emanate a yellow glow.
The timepiece has a sleek black colour scheme with a chic design. Its 43mm stainless steel case has glare-proof, convex sapphire crystal. The term DLC stands for ‘diamond-like carbon’, and the watch is coated with this to ensure superior scratch resistance and longevity.
It houses an ETA 7750 automatic-winding, Swiss mechanical chronograph movement, and has displays for hours, minutes, seconds, days and dates.
As well as the black DLC coated stainless steel bracelet, the Storm Chaser DLC Glow is also available with a calf leather strap.
Avstev Group distributes this Ball watch throughout Australia. It also supplies four other premium Swiss watch brands; Frederique Constant, Girard-Perregaux, Raymond Weil and TechnoMarine.
