FAVOURITE GEMSTONE: Australian parti sapphire. FAVOURITE METAL: 18-carat rose gold. FAVOURITE TOOL: Beader. It’s basic, but effective! BEST PART OF THE JOB: The look on people’s faces when they open the box for the first time and see what we worked so hard to create. WORST PART OF THE JOB: The high demands that come with custom-designed jewellery, and the immense amount of communication that is required to do a good job. BEST TIP FROM A JEWELLER: Make sure the inside of the ring is perfect before you bother to start working on the outside of the ring. BEST TIP TO A JEWELLER: Learn how to work backwards before you work forward. Have a plan before you ever touch a tool. BIGGEST HEALTH CONCERN ON THE BENCH: Eyesight and vision impairment. LOVE JEWELLERY BECAUSE: I love making jewellery because you can see raw materials burst to life with just a few file strokes. |
