The Swiss owner of brands such as Omega, Longines, Harry Winston, and Tissot reported a 2 per cent increase in sales over the past six months, headlined by improved performance across a range of markets.
Watch and jewellery brands provided the strong results, with a 27 per cent increase in the US market leading the report. Following the same trend, sales improved by 20 per cent in Japan and by 5 per cent in August.
It’s been a productive start to the year for Swatch. In May, the company made international headlines with the release of the Royal Pop collaboration with Audemars Piguet. Police were ordered to intervene and disperse crowds at around 20 locations worldwide.
These were scenes conjuring reminders of the dramatic launch of the MoonSwatch collection. That collection recently expanded with the addition of the Mission To The Moon 1969 model, which was capped at 1,969 releases and required every buyer to complete a 32-question application.
Swatch has also appeared in court, taking legal action against tech giant Samsung over 'digital replicas' in a high-profile trademark dispute.
The report noted that on the back of strong sales in May and June, the company expects these positive trends to continue in the near future.
