The Australian Opal Exhibition was hosted in Queensland in early August, bringing together members of an industry that is truly uniquely Australian.
The 23rd edition of the exhibition took place at Southport Sharks from 5–6 August, giving the community surrounding this gemstone a chance to connect, share knowledge, and celebrate one of Australia’s most distinctive natural treasures.
Long prized for its extraordinary play of colour and individuality, Australian opal is enjoying a significant cultural resurgence, with renewed appreciation for its beauty, character and distinctly Australian story. From the unique gemstones emerging from some of the country’s most remote mining regions to the craftsmanship that transforms them into remarkable jewellery, opal represents a fascinating intersection of geology, mining, artistry, and commerce.
Once again, the exhibition offered a glimpse into this diverse and colourful trade, bringing together the people, businesses, and passion that continue to shape the future of Australian opal.
