From early 2027, GIA students can access FHH Academy programmes at global campuses, starting with the entry-level Watch Advisor certification.
The Academy's programmes cover watchmaking fundamentals, culture, heritage and advanced technical courses for industry professionals and enthusiasts.
Furthermore, dedicated tutors will lead open sessions, introducing students to watchmaking as part of their gemmology and jewellery studies. Johanna Levy, vice president of communications and corporate affairs at GIA, said that the collaboration supports GIA’s mission to prepare the next generation of professionals.
“Horology is closely tied to the global gem and jewellery industry,” Levy said.
“This new programme will enable GIA students to discover the fascinating world of watchmaking and give them an edge in their future careers."
Since 2014, FHH has trained more than 50,000 individuals and certified more than 18,000 across 20 countries. Vice president Aurélie Streit said that the collaboration will advance the organisation’s educational mission and uphold its standards.
“Education has always been at the heart of the mission of the FHH. Our responsibility is not simply to transmit knowledge but to create the conditions for people to understand watchmaking in all its depth and diversity," he said.
The first initiative from the collaboration is scheduled for October 2026, with further details to be announced.
