The guru stood and said loudly, “You know, you are absolutely correct and I apologise.
If anyone wants to know the secrets to making money in tough times, please stand behind your chair.”
Everyone in the room stood, and the expert said, 'Now turn your chair upside down".
Somewhat bewildered, the staff upturned their chairs only to see an envelope taped to the bottom marked “Secret”.
The sales and motivational expert told everyone to open their envelope. Inside was a crisp, new $20 note taped to a sheet, which read:
There are no secrets in this world BUT … you just earned $20 by getting off your arse!
When times are tough, do it more often.
Editor’s note:
I wrote this story because all too often we think that there are shortcuts in life.
I’ve never found a shortcut to Success Road* and when times are difficult, we often forget that the answer to our problem is usually to work harder and smarter.
I think the key to success in the current climate is “working smarter” mainly because I am sure you probably can't work any harder! In good times you are usually too busy to look at the way you run your business, but in bad times it's imperative that you DO!
And while no one really has a secret to success, lots of people do have small tips that make the road a little shorter.
That’s our aim at Jeweller; to help you run your business. While we can’t offer any “secrets” we can provide you with small insights that give you a big return.
That’s why our December issue is chock full of practical tips and useful advice that could prove immensely valuable.
It's been a long, hard 12 months and I hope that Jeweller’s – Tips to Treasure: A handbook of small tips for BIG returns – will help you over the next 12 months.
Who knows? Just one small tip could be all you need!
Kind regards
