Australian Samantha Wills talks life as a jewellery designer, Luxury watch brands welcome Apple Watch, Christie’s accused of selling stolen diamond

Based in New York, but loyal to Sydney, Samantha Wills is taking the jewellery world by storm. Her bohemian-luxe designs have been worn by some of Hollywood’s most stylish women including Lady Gaga, Rihanna, Eva Mendes and Kate Bosworth. Here, she discusses running a business from the Big Apple and expanding into the fine jewellery market.

It seems the Apple Watch might not be as threatening to the watch industry as first thought. At the world’s largest watch and jewellery tradeshow, Baselworld, luxury watchmakers welcomed Apple’s version of the smartwatch, claiming it may introduce a fresh audience to the industry.

An Italian family has accused Christie’s of selling a 34.65-carat pink diamond that they believe was stolen from them some years ago. At the time of the sale, the Princie Diamond held the title for the most expensive jewellery item ever sold by the auction house.
