Ice-Watch reveals new ambassador

Ice-Watch has announced football player Eden Hazard, captain of the national Belgian football team the Red Devils, will be its new ambassador in the lead up to the 2018 World Cup.

Hazard was officially announced as the brand’s ambassador and “watch partner” for the next 12 months.

“I am proud to wear the colours of a brand whose origins, enthusiasm and exciting boldness I share."

According to a media statement, the football player – who also plays for Chelsea – was said to have a lot in common with the company, including being “a Belgian with an international career, flawless energy, many shared values and a 100 per cent commitment to quality.”

“As a creator of affordable watches for all, this is the kind of collaboration we love,” Ice-Watch CEO Jean-Pierre Lutgen said. “Charismatic, committed, generous, enthusiastic – Eden Hazard is an ideal ambassador. Ice-Watch is looking to partner with personalities who, like him, are well liked by the general public and move forward while remaining accessible.”

Hazard also expressed his enthusiasm over the appointment with the company.

“I am proud to wear the colours of a brand whose origins, enthusiasm and exciting boldness I share,” he said. “Together, we are accessible to all generations, countries and cultures. These are exactly the same qualities as the game of football, the unifying sport par excellence.”

Ice-Watch, which designs its pieces in Belgium and distributes worldwide, has previously strengthened its position within the industry with other sports partnerships, including with Olympic swimmer Florent Manaudou, world cycling champion Philippe Gilbert and DTM championship driver Marco Wittmann.

Established in Belgium in 2007, Ice-Watch is sold in more than 100 countries and is distributed in Australia by Bolt International.
