Retail Edge: New appointment ahead of Sydney Fair

As Australia’s largest annual industry gathering, the International Jewellery Fair is an important opportunity for those new to the trade to make themselves known.

Ahead of the largest Sydney Fair of the past decade, there’s been a change in personnel for Retail Edge Consultants.

After more than 20 years of dedicated service, sales manager Mike Dyer has retired. Co-founder and managing director David Brown said Dyer's contributions to jewellery retailers in Australia and New Zealand have been invaluable.

“On a personal note, I first started working with Mike more than 30 years ago and I have very much enjoyed our jewellery journey together,” Brown said.

“Mike has been a very loyal, hard-working, professional and is a respected colleague. His wisdom and quirky sense of humour will be greatly missed.”

At the same time, Retail Edge is excited to announce the appointment of Mal Scrymgeour as one of their new Business Advisors.

Scrymgeour will be responsible for delivering consultancy services to the company's clients throughout Australia and New Zealand.

He previously worked as chief operating officer of Farmlands, a leading New Zealand agricultural retailer, and has a wealth of retail management and advisory experience spanning more than two decades across Australia and New Zealand.

Scrymgeour will accompany general manager Leon van Megen at the upcoming Sydney Fair, beginning on 19 August at the ICC in Sydney’s Darling Harbour.

The latest analysis from Retail Edge revealed declining sales in Australian jewellery stores; however, recent research suggests consumer confidence is rebounding.
