High expectations for a spectacular pink diamond

In early November, the fourth-largest fancy intense pink diamond to ever hit the auction block is sure to turn heads at Phillips’ Geneva Jewels auction.

The 20.19-carat VVS1 diamond will enter the auction with a high pre-sale estimate of $US16.5 million ($AU26.24 million).

The cut-cornered rectangular modified brilliant-cut stone is accented with baguette diamonds.

Benoît Repellin, Phillips’ worldwide head of jewellery, said that global demand for fancy colour diamonds remains strong.

“We are seeing global demand for rare and captivating jewels, and our Geneva offering presents a meticulously curated selection,” he said.

“We eagerly anticipate showcasing these exceptional pieces as we continue our international highlights tour this month, leading up to the preview and auction in Geneva in November.”

The auction is scheduled to take place on 6 November, and other highlights include a ring featuring a 54.27-carat fancy intense yellow diamond with a high pre-sale estimate of $US1.8 million ($AU2.86 million)

Earlier this year, the 10.57-carat Eternal Pink returned $US34.8 million ($AU55.31 million) at an auction at Sotheby’s in New York.

On the same day, Sotheby’s in Geneva will host the auction of a 103-carat fancy intense yellow diamond named the Love Stone, which is expected to return as much as $US4.1 million ($AU6.45 million).
