At Sotheby’s on 12 November, a 10.08-carat fancy vivid pink diamond ring will be the headline act, entering the auction with a presale estimate of $USD20 million ($AUD30.8 million).
Known as the Glowing Rose, the auction house revealed this was only the third cushion-cut vivid pink diamond, weighing more than 10 carats, to appear at auction over the past decade. The diamond was set into a ring by Boobles, and Jessica Wyndham, head of high jewellery at Sotheby’s, said demand remains strong for fancy colour diamonds.
“Building on the remarkable success of the Mediterranean Blue, we are thrilled to present another extraordinary fancy-coloured diamond, this time an exceptional pink,” she said.
“With the current high global demand for rare coloured diamonds, the chance to offer the Glowing Rose makes this auction moment truly exciting.”
The Mediterranean Blue, a 10.03-carat blue fancy colour diamond, was sold at Geneva in May. This pink diamond originated as a 21-carat rough discovered in Angola in 2023, and will be showcased in Singapore and Taipei before the auction in November.
