Pepper has previously held senior roles at fashion and retail companies, including Tapestry, Farfetch, and Harrods. More recently, she was managing director of the digital platform Mytheresa.
Pepper will replace David Kellie, who has served as CEO of the Natural Diamond Council since 2019, succeeding Jean-Marc Lieberherr. Kellie has overseen a period of significant change for the organisation, including the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, the impact of lab-created diamonds on the market, and the fallout from the conflict between Russia and Ukraine.
As part of the announcement, the Natural Diamond Council said Pepper would focus on reinforcing the distinction between natural and lab-created diamonds and on using digital marketing to appeal to younger consumers. Chair Sandrine Conseiller said Pepper would bring valuable experience to the position.
“We are delighted to welcome Amber as the new CEO of the Natural Diamond Council,” Conseiller said.
“Her global perspective, commercial expertise, and deep understanding of luxury consumers make her an exceptional choice to lead the Council and galvanise the industry.”
The NDC was founded in 2000 to advance the integrity of the diamond industry by educating consumers. It was formerly known as the Diamond Producers Association.
