This appointment follows the Luanda Accord, signed in June 2025 by diamond-producing countries and industry stakeholders, to promote responsible practices and strengthen the natural diamond industry.
The agreement requires signatories to support the NDC’s marketing and education initiatives, helping to ensure the industry’s long-term viability. Natural Diamond Council chair, Sandrine Conseiller, emphasised the importance of collaboration and communication.
“The future success of the industry will depend on our ability to communicate the true story of natural diamonds — their desirability and role in driving development,” she said.
“Expanding the NDC’s representation across the value chain will strengthen consumer education, amplify the industry’s voice, and reinforce trust in natural diamonds as rare creations with social and economic impact.”
The Natural Diamond Council recently confirmed the appointment of Amber Pepper as CEO, effective in February. Pepper replaces outgoing CEO David Kellie, who was a contributor to Jeweller’s Great Diamond Debate III in December.
