US ‘diamond guru’ to talk at Sydney jewellery fair

In a coup for its diamond retailer members, Nationwide Jewellers has secured internationally renowned sales trainer Shane Decker to speak at the upcoming International Jewellery Fair in Sydney.
US-based Decker will fly to Sydney to present his ‘anatomy of a sale’ training in a seminar on August 27, a day before the Sydney fair kicks off.
The four-hour seminar is called ‘The Shane Decker Diamond Sales Seminar.’
Nationwide Jewellers managing director Colin Pocklington said the seminar would be highly useful to members and their staff who wanted to improve their diamond selling skills.
“The fantastic thing about Shane is that he specialises in diamond sales training. When he gives examples of lead in lines or closes, they are all based on selling diamonds,” Pocklington said.
He added that Decker’s visit to Australia was a major coup that had taken Nationwide more than two years to plan.
“We have been trying to get Shane to Australia for several years. He is usually booked every day for at least a year in advance, so we started planning the trip with Shane back in 2009,” Pocklington added.
The seminar costs $95 per person with the third person onwards from any one store eligible for a $60 discount. The fee will cover the four-hour seminar, a workbook and a ‘happy hour’ drink at 6pm.
Pocklington said approximately 50 of his members had already registered for the seminar.
Decker’s appearance will coincide with Nationwide’s 20th anniversary celebrations.
Shane Decker has provided sales training to more than 3,000 stores worldwide. He is a regular speaker at major jewellery fairs in the US.
