The Met Gala, otherwise known as the Costume Institute Benefit, is an invitation-only fundraising event held on the first Monday of May in New York City to benefit The Metropolitan Museum of Art’s Costume Institute. It is often referred to as "fashion’s biggest night.”
Attending her first Met Gala since 2016, Beyoncé wore a high jewellery suite featuring approximately 370 carats of diamonds. Her look included several bracelets, earrings, and a necklace with emerald-cut diamonds set in white gold.
Other notable features included Emily Blunt, hitting the red carpet in a black tasselled Ashi Studios bodysuit, with a pearl body necklace by Japanese jeweller and pearl specialist Mikimoto, valued at an estimated $USD500,000.
“There were cheers for Anne Hathaway, Madonna and the members of Blackpink on the Met Gala carpet. But the loudest screams were for Beyoncé,” writes Joey Guerra for MSN.
“The Houston superstar appeared just after 7.30 pm in custom Olivier Rousteing, head to toe in silver and feathers. The form-fitting dress featured nude mesh under a skeletal design, matching gloves and a sun-shaped crown. She topped it with a feathered coat in shades of grey that had to be carried by multiple people up the stairs.”
Other notable attendees included Lisa from Blackpink, who wore a Bulgari sapphire necklace, and Indian businesswoman Isha Ambani, who appeared in historic family jewels.
Philanthropist Sudha Reddy also drew attention with a 550-carat tanzanite necklace, while other attendees, such as Julianne Moore, Cara Delevingne, and Margot Robbie, chose pieces from major jewellery brands.
