Branded watches prove lucrative for US President

A fascinating analysis of US President Donald Trump’s latest financial disclosures report has suggested that his controversial brand of watches is a highly profitable venture.

Jeweller has previously reported extensively on Trump Watches, a company launched in 2024 under a licensing agreement with TheBestWatchesOnEarth LLC, a Wyoming company that licenses Trump's name, image and likeness. The company's ownership remains unknown.

The US President's latest financial disclosures report $USD4.7 million ($AUD6.7 million) in income from Trump Watches.

Analysis published by Rob Corder of WatchPro has suggested that, when applying a standard 5-10 per cent wholesale royalty rate, the revenue generated by Trump Watches at the retail level could be as high as $USD160 million ($AUD230 million).

Trump Victory Tourbillon Watch

Although exact royalty figures are confidential, estimates indicate that Trump Watches has become one of the most successful celebrity-licensing businesses.

Among the notable pieces is the Independence Blue & Gold, a limited edition of 250 pieces priced at $USD1,299 ($AUD1,868), which uses a Miyota 8215 automatic movement made by Citizen.

At the high end, the $USD100,000 ($AUD143,800) Trump Victory Tourbillon comes with a Swiss movement, an 18-carat gold case and band set with 122 diamonds.

The watches are available through retail partners and GetTrumpWatches.com, which is currently promoting the America 250 Celebration Collection to commemorate the nation's history of independence. The disclosure released this week puts Trump's personal income over the past year at $USD1.2 billion ($AUD1.7 billion).
