Custom-made: Duraflex showcases new tech platform in Sydney

The team at Duraflex Group Australia was busy showcasing a new purpose-built digital platform designed to help jewellery retailers manage the increasing demand for custom-made jewellery at this year’s International Jewellery Fair in Sydney.

Be.My.Jewel brings the custom-made jewellery process together in one connected platform.
From the initial customer request and design development through CAD approval, pricing, manufacturing, quality control, and delivery, retailers can manage the entire process in one place.

Duraflex Group Australia managing director Phil Edwards said the result is a more streamlined experience for retailers and a more transparent, engaging experience for their customers.

“Bespoke jewellery should be one of the most exciting experiences a retailer can offer a customer,” he told Jeweller.

“But the complexity behind the scenes can often take away from that experience. Be.My.Jewel is designed to give retailers greater control and visibility, so they can focus on what matters most — their customers, their relationships and creating exceptional jewellery.”

Be.My.Jewel is free to join. The platform creates a centralised workflow where the relevant information can be accessed throughout the life of an order.

The idea behind the platform is easing the administrative burden by letting retailers track a piece's progress, manage design and customer approvals, maintain visibility of pricing and specifications, follow manufacturing progress, and stay informed through to quality control and dispatch.

Edwards said the platform's central tenet was connecting the key participants involved in bringing a bespoke piece to life, including retailers, designers, and manufacturers.

“The feedback so far has been terrific, overwhelmingly positive. We had a great time hosting live demonstrations and encouraging people to sign up,” he said.

“We think it’s a big win for jewellers. Using the platform comes at no cost to the retail partner, and now the real test is seeing how quickly retailers embrace it. But from the initial feedback, we couldn’t be happier with the launch.”
