The Royal Oak Joaillerie collection includes a range of cuffs, necklaces, and earrings that draw thematically on the style of the brand’s best-known watch, the original Royal Oak, designed by Gérald Genta in 1972.
The collection includes three lines based on the landscape of the Swiss Jura mountains. Dream of Joux symbolises frozen lakes, night skies, and floral landscape, while Risoud Eclipse references the region’s history of celestial observation. CEO Ilaria Resta told the Luxury Tribune that jewellery has been part of the brand for longer than many might think.
“Jewellery revenue is not the central focus; what interests me greatly is everything that can feed into and enrich watchmaking. We are not looking for growth drivers in jewellery; we are looking for the expertise and creativity associated with it,” she said.
“The Royal Oak Joaillerie collection will be unveiled in Paris, one of the world’s great centres of high jewellery, and will then be presented in several cities around the world through bespoke events.”
“These creations will not be offered in boutiques or displayed in windows. They will be discovered in a more intimate setting, one that reflects their singularity.”
Resta added that Audemars Piguet was starting with ‘small quantities’, with pieces made to order, and that they can require several months of production.
The launch of Royal Oak Joaillerie continues an experimental year for Audemars Piguet, previously headlined by a provocative collaboration with Swatch.
