Australia included on Girard-Perregaux 220th anniversary world tour

Vintage timepieces from luxury watch brand Girard-Perregaux’s Swiss museum will be showcased at exclusive events in Australia and New Zealand on a world tour to celebrate the brand’s 220th anniversary.
The world tour signals the first time Girard-Perregaux has allowed any of its vintage timepieces to leave its Swiss La Chaux-De-Fonds museum for overseas shores.
Loyal customers of the brand’s stockists will be invited to attend the exclusive dinners, which are set to take place at highly acclaimed restaurants in Sydney, Melbourne and Auckland, where Girard-Perregaux is collaborating with key retailers.
“The importance of these dinners is to give our customers a better understanding and insight into the history, passion, age-old traditions and craftsmanship that is required to create a Girard-Perregaux timepiece,” Girard-Perregaux brand manager Michelle Zaloudek at Avstev Group said.
Those invited will have the opportunity to view historical timepieces, some of which date back to the 1800s, as well as 2011 models that were released at the SIHH watch fair in Geneva in January this year.
Timepieces from Girard-Perregaux’s ‘Haute Horlogerie’ collection and a re-edition of the brand’s ‘Three Bridge Pocket’ watch will be on show.
Designated to take place at the end of May, Zaloudek said the events were a coup for the brand’s customers in Australasia.
“Originally, only the key big cities around the world such as New York and Hong Kong were to receive these timepieces,” Zaloudek said.
“However after much persuasion, our team in Australia were able to secure a handful of watches to come to our shores.”
