JAA introduces networking groups

The Jewellers Association of Australia has created two networking groups aimed at promoting the industry and boosting jewellers’ careers.

The two groups, Diamond Divas and Jeweller Employees Membership, aim to connect people in the Australian jewellery industry by building new relationships in order to boost success.

According to JAA chief executive officer, Ian Hadassin, the main target of the groups is women and young employees. “This is an exciting initiative of the JAA and will provide an opportunity for member employees to have access to resources to help them establish and grow their careers,” Hadassin said.

The Diamond Divas is a women-only network, with the JAA offering members opportunities to network with one female members.

"With today’s financial pressures, competitive work environment, women are challenged like never before. It’s long overdue, but the JAA is offering women in our industry a chance to be part of something special."

“With today’s financial pressures, competitive work environment, women are challenged like never before. It’s long overdue, but the JAA is offering women in our industry a chance to be part of something special,” Hadassin said.

The second group, Jeweller Employees Membership, is open to JAA member employees of any age, however activities will focus on young people who want to build a career in Australia’s jewellery industry, whether it be in design, retail or manufacturing.

Hadassin has much faith in the younger generation of jewellers today and maintains these groups further endorse this belief. “The JAA believes it’s important to harness the enthusiasm that staff have with skills and guidance for them to be the best – we will provide support to the ‘green gems’ of our industry,” Hadassin said.

Networking either face-to-face or online, Hadassin believes these groups can support a new wave of ideas and business relationships. “You have no idea when or where these opportunities may arise, which is why it’s important to act now and seize the opportunity,” Hadassin said.
