Vampire star pairs with Aussie jeweller

An Australian jewellery designer has partnered with a local star of hit US television series The Vampire Diaries to promote its latest range.
Jan Logan Jewellery is continuing its tradition of partnering with up-and-coming female stars by announcing Phoebe Tonkin as the brand’s 2013 ambassador.

Sydney-born Tonkin, who has an ongoing role on The Vampire Diaries, has also had a set of Jan Logan’s Jewellery from the latest Hudson collection named after her.

The Hudson collection follows a theme of using unusual stones, such as tsavorite, quartz, black diamonds, Australian South Sea and Tahitian Pearls as well as semi-precious materials such as jasper and coral.

The “Phoebe” ring and earrings are made from white gold, diamonds and labradorite, with Tonkin saying it was a special feeling to have them named after her.

“I fell in love with these pieces as soon as I saw them. They are stunning creations and it feels very special to have them named after me,” Tonkin said. “I wore Jan Logan jewels to my first red carpet event when I was 18. I've always admired the aesthetic of the designs and it's such an honour to now be shooting their campaign.”

Previously, Jan Logan Jewellery used other high profile Australian actresses, in its marketing activities, including Rachael Taylor and Rose Byrne.

Jan Logan managing director Angus Logan said partnering with young stars like Tonkin was a great fit for the brand.

“We value our association with young actresses as they embody our brand and all that we represent. Like these stars themselves, Jan Logan’s success can be attributed to talent, drive, and perseverance. Similarly, we enjoy a growing international following whilst remaining true to our history as an Australian family business,” said Logan.

“Phoebe has accomplished so much in her career already, so we are thrilled to be working with a young woman who exemplifies this achievement.”

Tonkin came to prominence as an actress in Australia following her three-year role on Australian television series H20: Just Add Water, followed by starring in Australian feature films Tomorrow, When the War Began and Bait 3D.

Principle designer and director Jan Logan said the eclectic nature of the Hudson collection was inspired by her travel experiences.

“My travels to London, Los Angeles, and New York offered me a kaleidoscope of ideas. Diverse streetscapes, architecture and historical influences, such as the dedication of my son, Andrew Logan’s sculpture in the Canterbury Cathedral in the UK, all contributed to the design direction for the Hudson collection,” Ms Logan said.

The collection features more than 100 pieces and is now available online and in store.
