Ice-Watch adds colour to Big Day Out

Ice-Watch is continuing to reinforce its young and vibrant image within the market by partnering with iconic Australian music event, Big Day Out.
The popular brand has become the official watch partner of Big Day Out Festival series 2013.

According to a company statement, Ice-Watch has a close association with the music industry, having previously collaborated with leading international artists including Black Eyed Peas, David Guetta, No Doubt and Katy Perry.

Its collaboration with Big Day Out is said to be a natural progression to further support the brand’s growth in Australia.

Ice-Watch has selected its Ice-Forever range as the official collection for the music festival, which is the largest in the country and renowned for attracting international acts across many genres.

In addition to being a music event partner, the watch brand is supporting Big Day Out’s Rock n Ride initiative, which helps to raise awareness for Headspace National Youth Mental Health Foundation.

Rock n Ride is the brainchild of home-grown Grinspoon frontman, Phil Jamieson. It will see Jamieson ride his motorcycle – along with 10 other musician and media personalities - from the Big Day Out set at the Gold Coast through to the festival’s Adelaide location.

Ice-Watch will be providing watches to the 10-star line up so they can keep track of their “Get Him to the Greek” style adventure that will see the group race through four states over five days.

The riders will also be stopping in at headspace centres located in Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria and South Australia regional towns.

Ice Australasia CEO Larry Porter said Ice-Watch was quick to become involved in the initiative.

“Headspace is an outstanding organisation that provides mental health support to young Australians 15 years and older throughout Australia. The statistics relating to mental illness within this age group is quite frightening,” Porter explained.

“The aim of the ride is to further raise awareness of mental health illness amongst younger Australians and to let them know it is ok to talk about it and they have a place they can go to seek support.“

Big Day Out will take place in various cities throughout the country during January.
